SSSIHL Alumna Honored with Best Nursing Researcher Award

Dr. B. Ganga Bhavani, an alumna of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, has been honoured with the Florence Nightingale State Award for Best Nursing Researcher during the International Nurses Day celebrations held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, Vijayawada on 12 May 2025.

She received a cash prize of ₹25,000 and a commemorative shield in recognition of her outstanding contributions to nursing research and her unwavering commitment to evidence-based practice.

The event, organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Nurses & Midwives Council to commemorate the 205th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, was graced by Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav, who lauded nursing as a noble profession and encouraged nurses to serve with compassion and dedication. The Florence Nightingale State Awards, introduced for the first time by the State Council, honoured exceptional nurses across various categories.

Currently serving as the Principal of the College of Nursing at Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam, Tirupati, Dr. Ganga Bhavani has led over five research projects as Principal Investigator with prestigious bodies such as ICMR, UGC, and RUSA. She has also conducted numerous workshops and seminars funded by ICMR, contributing significantly to healthcare research over her 25 years of service. She dedicated this award to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
