Dr. Kumar Venkataramani

Dr. Kumar Venkataramani, was an alumnus of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL), from the 2008–2012 batch of the Science Department, with a specialization in Physics (Hons). After completing his undergraduate studies at SSSIHL, he pursued and earned a Ph.D. in Physics from IIT Gandhinagar. He furthered his academic journey with postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and Auburn University, where he made significant contributions to the field of astronomy.

Dr. Kumar Venkataramani, was a passionate astronomer whose work at Caltech included the observation of comets and asteroids. In recognition of his contributions, a minor planet was named in his honour, joining the ranks of distinguished Indian scientists.

It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we share the news of Dr. Kumar Venkataramani’s passing on the morning of April 25, 2025.

After returning to India in search of new career opportunities, Dr. Kumar continued to pursue his aspirations with courage and determination. He will be remembered for his brilliance, humility, and unwavering dedication to the pursuit of knowledge.
